# Image Studio FAQs

To help you get started with Image Studio, here are answers to some commonly asked questions.

## Availability and pricing

### How can I get Image Studio?

To start using Image Studio, contact us or [sign up for the trial version](https://amplience.com/ai/studios/free-trial/).

If you already use [Amplience Workforce](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/workforce/setup/), then you automatically have access to Image Studio.

Your organization admin can see whether your account is set up to use Image Studio, by checking if it's listed as an additional service on the [Account Management Usage tab](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/user-guides/manage-accounts/overview/#usage-tab).

### Is Image Studio free?

Image Studio uses our AI services and each time you make use of one of these services you will be spending Amplience credits. See [Amplience credits](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/ai-services/credits/).

### How many credits does Image Studio use?

The number of credits used varies based on what you're doing. The tooltips let you know how many credits an action requires.

When generating backgrounds, the credit usage will vary based on:

- How many variants you decide to create
- The model you select

See [Generating backgrounds](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/workforce/image-studio/background/#generating-backgrounds).

### Which types of devices can I use Image Studio on?

Image Studio is designed for use on desktop devices.

## Workflow support

### How does Image Studio support workflow?

Image Studio lets you quickly edit images as part of your content creation process without the need to ask your graphics team. Once Image Studio is enabled on your account you can use it to edit images independently from content, or while you're authoring with Dynamic Content.

See [Launching Image Studio](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/workforce/image-studio/edit-images/#launching-image-studio).

### Which extensions support Image Studio?

Once you have Image Studio enabled on your account, you can use it with these extensions:

- [Image transformation extension](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/integrations/extensions/examples/#image-transformation-extension)
- [Shoppable image extension](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/integrations/extensions/examples/#shoppable-image-extension)

### Why is the "Edit in Image Studio" icon missing?

The "Edit in Image Studio" icon may not display if an image field has been customized with an extension. You can check to see if additional customization exists by looking in the content type schema.

### Can I launch it from Workforce?

No, Image Studio can't be launched from [Workforce](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/workforce/setup/).

## Editing images

### Will my original image file be updated?

Image Studio creates copies of your original images, keeping your originals safe. You can view your original at any time using the switch at the top of the studio window.

> **Note: Creating new saved images**
> When you use Image Studio as part of your authoring workflow with Dynamic Content, saving an image always creates a new image with a new name.

## AI models

### Which AI models does Image Studio support?

Image Studio currently supports AI model DALL-E 3 and DALL-E 2.

### Can I select which AI model is used?

Not yet for Image Studio. The ability to choose between models or use your own is on our roadmap.

## Files and file types

### Supported files and file types:

- Images of up to 16 MP (4000 x 4000 pixels) which do not exceed the maximum file size of 68MB
- Images in the following formats: JPEG, PNG
- Images with the RGB color space only. Images with any other color space, such as CMYK, are not supported

### Why is my downloaded image converted to a PNG file?

Image Studio will, by default, download images with transparent backgrounds as PNG files, to give you the best transparency and background quality. This is because JPEG files typically don't support transparent backgrounds, and as a result when you download them, they may have a black background.

To specifically choose the file type of your downloaded image, use the "Download as" chooser. See [Downloading images](https://amplience.com/developers/docs/workforce/image-studio/edit-images/#downloading-images).

### Does Image Studio work with all images or just photos?

Currently, Image Studio works most effectively with photos.
